'Nowhere to go': Days before Christmas Residents displaced from Legacy Crossing apartment complex.
City housing inspectors deem the Omaha Legacy Crossing apartment complex unlivable. Inspectors said they have found tenants living with no heat, collapsed ceilings, raw sewage in standing water and rodent infestations. Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert said several fire code violations made all 17 buildings unsafe for residents. There are 408 units in the complex, and 44 percent of them are actually occupied. After two fires in the last two months, the city Monday morning notified residents of the shutdown, a decision the mayor said was made late last week.
